Caribbean Island Attractions in Anguilla
For a memorable Caribbean Island vacation a trip to Anguilla has the makings of a great getaway. Located in the northern part of the Leeward chain, this island is one hour from Puerto Rico via plane and twenty minutes from St. Martin via ferry. Anguilla also has American Eagle, Winair and Liat daily flights. The capital of this island is “The Valley” located in the center of Anguilla. This island is only 17 miles long and three miles wide, and it has a population of roughly 13,000 English speaking people.
Anguilla is blessed to have some of the most scenic beaches in the Caribbean. Some of the more popular locations include Barnes Bay, on the north shore, Shoal Bay, and Sandy Groundo. Out of the locations mentioned, Sandy Groundo is known as one of the more popular beaches to experience. It is here you can experience the Anguilla night light, and the annual sailing competition.
With over thirty white sandy beaches that are rated as some of the best in the Caribbean, good resorts, numerous cays for the snorkeler and diver, and great dining this British territory has the makings of a great vacation spot.
